Join The ANZ Hernia Society

The ANZ Hernia Society comprises a RACS ratified group of surgeons from Australia and New Zealand who have a special interest in hernia surgery. The aims of the group are to provide an avenue for a range of activities such as advocacy, training, setting standards of care and mentoring in hernia surgery.

Since its inception, we have undertaken a range of activities including collaborating with RACS on a rapid review of mesh safety and the TGA on hernia mesh classification. We are also committed to best practice in hernia surgery and are engaged with The American Hernia Society and MD Epinet looking at quality improvement via standardise hernia registry. The society is actively involved in hernia research. ANZ Hernia Society also champions surgical education by hosting regular journal club and partnering with the AWR community to hold hernia specific meetings.
